I was the main concrete estimator for the Santa Monica library new construction project in Santa Monica, CA.
With my colleagues at Morley Builders we met with the architect (Moore, Rubell and Yudell – MRY) providing concrete construction expertise during the design process. The project was pseudo design-build with a fast tracked schedule.
I think I actually estimated three different renditions of the design before it was actually built. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to do the on site management of this project.

It’s a beautiful building with gorgeous exposed cast-in-place concrete – Morley’s specialty. They were also the general contractor and concrete sub for the Cathedral of Los Angeles designed by Moneo, though that was completed just before my employment with them.
