I was one of two Project Engineers on site managing the construction of this Multi-Family Residential project by Morley Builders based out of Santa Monica, CA. Designed by VTBS and built for the Archstone Smith Operating Trust the project was challenging due to it’s tight site located on a busy street, the monsoon rains during excavation, and local seismic requirements and building height restrictions.
Located in West Los Angeles the project consists of 204 apartment units in three 3-story buildings over two levels of subterranean parking on one side of the street and one level of subterranean parking on the other side of the street.
I was the concrete project engineer managing concrete quantities and labor hours with the superintendent and scheduling street closures on pump days.
I was also one of three Project Engineers on site with one Project Manager and one Superintendent. Together we all put the subcontracts out to bid, selected subcontractors, managed the subcontractors, worked with the Architect to clarify the drawings, and got the $24 million dollar project built on time and under budget.
I worked out of a job site trailer for over a year and thankfully had a women-only porta-potty!
